Day 102: There's an app for that!

THE DARWIN CHALLENGE

Yesterday, we talked about Meatless Mondays, so to follow up on that post, I've discovered a cool new app to help you plan and keep track of how much you have helped the planet! Enter "The Darwin Challenge", created by Charles Darwin's great-great-grandson, Chris Darwin!

The purpose of the app is to help you plan the number of days that you wish to go meat-free, and then it will show you the impact you are having on your health, finances, animal welfare, world issues, and on the planet! Invite your friends and family, and compete for top place on the leaderboard.

Check out this video from The Darwin Challenge.

As it says in the video, "Together we can make the world a better place, one day at a time".

THE GUEST-IMATOR We have discussed food waste before, and today, I stumbled across savethefood.com, with more exciting and interesting ways to reduce food waste, including a new app called "The Guest-imator". You "guest" it (excuse the pun) you enter how many people you are catering for a dinner party and the types of food that you're planning on serving, and it will advise you of how much food you need to buy. Brilliant! That's got to reduce waste and save you money, right? Click on the link to learn more about The Guest-imator- get it just in time for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or any other festivities that you have coming up.

MORE MEATLESS MEAL INSPIRATION

If you're thinking you can't go vegan for Thanksgiving, think again. Here are some wonderfully tasty vegan recipes for any day, thanks to One Green Planet (click on the link). ONE LAST WORD ON FOOD WASTE FOR TODAY

Remember wasting food costs more than just the price of the item. Watch this video from Save Our Food:

Do you know any apps that you'd recommend for food planning, reducing food waste or helping to make dietary changes? Please comment below, we'd love to hear your ideas. Thanks, Joy
